Human skin consists of three layers: the epidermis, dermis and subcutaneous tissue. The epidermal layer is builtd of proteins, which help to maintain bind skin cells together and move them towards the surface of the skin. Because the skin migrates to the surface, degrade these proteins to dead skin could fall off the end of the cycle. If the normal cell cycle proceeds smoothly, enzymes and natural acids break down proteins and dead cells fall off. The renewal cycle for healthy skin usually lasts for 28 days.
The dead skin cells are saturated with keratin, which as in the case of hair and nails is a protein. The dead skin cells aresaturated with keratin, which is a protein that is also found in hair and nails. The keratin layer of the skin helps to protect the underlying skin against external stimulation, and also to protect against loss of moisture. This layer of the skin is much thicker than the living tissue; however the excessive accumulation can cause the skin to become hard and dry, which ultimately leads to calluses.
In our daily lives, our feet are constantly exposed to heavy load. Due to this pressure, the skin is not able to separate naturally. This causes the accumulation of keratin cells, which form a hard layer, and the natural process of peeling no longer breaks keratin cells. This build-up of old, dead skin cells can cause problems such as calluses. If not prevented the build-up of the skin can become dry and cracked, resulting in pain, bleeding, and even in severe cases of infection.
Due to the continuous pressure on our feet from living a normal life, dead skin cells accumulate on the sole of the foot, and the natural process of exfoliation is interrupted. EpilFeet works by softening calluses, getting between dead cells and loosen the "glue" that holds them together. EpilFeet fires speeds up the natural process of exfoliation of the dead skin while living cells are left unaffected. EpilFeet contains a careful selection of enzymes and acids that allow molecules to penetrate into the corresponding layer and initiate exfoliation of dead skin cells.
Bathing feet in warm water before the treatment speeds up the process. Although it is not necessary it will shorten the time required for the exfoliation of dead skin. Some feet may peel to a greater extent than others depending on the thickness of the accumulated skin. Although the skin may seem dry, avoid any moisturizing during the entire peeling process as it reduce the effect of the product. During the time of application you may experience a cold or tingling sensation, which is a normal result of the active ingredients in the EpilFeet product. You should, however, immediately stop using EpilFeet if there is a strong burning or itching sensation. It is recommended to keep feet away from direct sunlight or solarium during the first week following the procedure as the new skin may be sensitive to UV radiation.
